Chemlease MPP 712 EU Mould Prep Primer seals tooling for FRP and composites. It primes gelcoat, epoxy, phenolic and metal moulds, helping semi‑permanent releases perform better and refreshing worn tools. Apply 1–2 coats to seal (30 min between), then cure 1–2 hrs at room temperature before applying a release agent – this primer is not a release agent. Not recommended for monolithic graphite or ceramic tooling.
Mould Prep Primer is used as a mould preparation sealing and priming step in FRP and advanced composites to condition tooling surfaces before applying a semi‑permanent release agent. It’s suited to common tooling substrates such as polyester gelcoat/non‑gelcoat, epoxy and phenolic mould surfaces, and most metals, and is often selected when you need to close porosity, restore worn tooling, or improve the consistency of your release system. In typical use, it’s applied to a clean mould, cured, and then overcoated with an appropriate Chemlease release because the primer itself is not a release agent. For safety and compliance, consult the SDS prior to use.

Tooling Sealer for FRP & Advanced Composites
Formulated to seal tooling used in FRP and advanced composites, supporting consistent mould preparation across common tooling types.
Broad Substrate Compatibility
Suitable for polyester gelcoat (and non‑gelcoat), epoxy and phenolic mould surfaces, and most metals (not recommended for monolithic graphite or ceramic tooling).
Enhances Semi‑Permanent Release Performance
Designed to enhance the performance of semi‑permanent release agents when used as part of a complete release system.
Restores / Re‑Surfaces Worn Tooling
Can be used to re-surface worn‑out moulds and “bring worn tooling back to life” when used correctly within the mould prep system.
Controlled Coating & Cure Options
Typically 1–2 coats seal many tools (porous tooling blocks may need 6–12 coats, tested case-by-case), with 30 minutes between coats and 1–2 hours cure at room temperature; warming the mould to 49–60°C can reduce cure time to ~20 minutes

Clear System Role (Primer, Not a Release Agent)
An excellent sealing material but must not be used as a release agent - a compatible Chemlease release must be applied after cure to avoid tool damage.
